I am currently the Head Cross Country and Track Coach at Southwestern and I have a personal goal of making sure that all of the athletes that I coach have great success in the classroom and in life. Bill Huntington is entering his third year as the head coach of the Spartans. Over the last two years he has guided the Spartans to a Regional Championship (2006) and his squads have finished very high at the NJCAA National Cross Country Championships, 18th in 2006 at El Paso, TX and 26th in 2007 at Rend Lake, IL. Coach Huntington was named the NJCAA Men's 2006 Region XI Cross Country Coach of the Year and his teams have produced nine All Region Runners over the last two years.
Before taking over at Southwestern Coach Huntington was a successful high school coach. At the high school level Coach Huntington's cross country and track squads won a combined 10 conference championships, over 50 invitationals and has had numerous state place winners and qualifiers in both sports. He was the recipient of two Iowa Track and Field Coaches Association's Southwest Iowa Cross Country Coach of the Year awards.
